Return of Bruce Wayne or the beginning of the end of him?

Friday, July 23

Next up was the “Batman: The Return” panel. The stage was packed, with Grant Morrison, Bryan Q. Miller, Gail Simone, Paul Dini, Paul Cornell, Judd Winick, Scott Snyder, Frazer Irving, David Finch, Dustin Nguyen, and Mike Marts (I probably forgot somebody). Biggest news was that Morrison will be replaced by Peter Tomasi on Batman and Robin while Morrison starts a new Batman team-up book called Batman Inc. Paul Cornell will also write Knight and Squire(which we’re all pretty psyched for) and a Batman Beyond ongoing was hinted at. Also, the whole panel kept joking about how Dick Grayson is about to get “a bullet in the brain” meaning that I’m pretty sure Jon and I were right (at least about something).

Well, that above paragraph was taken off High Five! Comics and their third day at SDCC 2010. And also reading what he and Jon were right about in an earlier post, it was kinda sad really. I mean, they are gonna take Bruce Wayne off the grid AND THEN kill Dick Grayson (who is my favourite Robin ever)??

That is just depressing news, i tell you. Maybe i’m a little slow to catch on all these, but this news is just…. sad. Right now i’m only hoping that while Morrison works on Batman Inc., Peter Tomasi will not try to change the Batman realm too much.

    Erm… Seriously?

    And what about this?

“After time travels and dark challenges, Bruce Wayne is back in Gotham City and writer Grant Morrison has big plans for the hero. I interviewed Morrison about “Batman, Inc.,” a new series that launches in October and will present the “franchising” of the caped crusader — essentially the dark knight of Gotham City drafts, trains and commands a team of heroes who will wear their leader’s colors. “It’s all about branding,” says Morrison. The team will include Dick Grayson, Knight and Squire, El Gaucho and eight others. Their leader, meanwhile, gets that little yellow circle back on his costume. Read all about it below and check out the exclusive art after the jump . — Geoff Boucher”

Grayson will be life. I’m sure of it.
